Shrine of Love

I love architecture and also a challenge so after a little experimentation in making match stick photo frames, fans, storage boxes decided to build the Taj Mahal . This is a functional piece as the dome is removable and a velvet lined storage area is found inside.

Here are some more examples of match stick work

January to March Exhibition

Exhibition Report                    Jan 20th 2014

Hi, I thought that I should give a report regards my first exhibition at  Saint Johns Library Gallery, Worcester.
It has been my delight to hang 23 pictures in the Library Gallery. I have been amazed to see people gazing and drinking in the feast of colour presented to them in well lit and comfortable surroundings. If only we could afford such a luxury at home, ample space to display collected works, to stroll along with friends and look on.

Thank you all for taking time to come and view, your support, sharing your thoughts, also inspiring me with your own stories and rhetoric. Please note the interesting links and friends section on the right hand side of this blog, which has increased with networking, these links are also an inspiration too, hope you get a chance to follow them.

Creative Club Work

The 'Crafty Group' was created as a group for those with artistic skills to come and create and share their inspiration with other like minded individuals. I am fascinated by geometric design and made various studies finally producing my own matrix designs.

While doing a art course with open college of art as part of mastering Technics and using colour I was encouraged to produce pictures in the like of great artists.

Degas the great impressionist artist did studies of ballet dancers. I produced this quick sketch followed by water colour dancers.

This is my initial colour study.

Taking stills of dancers I was able to produce this study.

I am a great doodler. I worked out this matrix with pen and paper transferring it to acrylic on card.

During the crafty time I painted some flowers in gouache.

One of our crafters suggested that I do some pictures in the style of Monet. Of course these are not an exact rip but I tried to use the same colour pallet.

I enjoy playing with colour and working on the water lilies. so much so I painted a large lily.I tried to create form and texture using mainly white paint and blocks of colour.

To follow the theme of pattern I decided to try an illuminated letter.

The clarity of colour is produced by the use of gouache.

Here is another geometric design. A triangular matrix can be seen which I may use in the future to produce patchwork.

My first attempt at Chinese brushwork. 'Sympathy'

This Second attempt at Chinese painting started as an pen and ink outline with gouache fill but quickly developed into a colour study.

Flower Blossom

Stained Glass and Tiffany Work

I joined a stain glass group at South Worcester College run by Liz Hubbet. When one has learned the basics of cutting and nibbling glass the rest is practice. The unit above was my first effort.

My second effort was a rather large piece. Thank you Liz for encouraging me to persevere.

Around Worcester Series

My first painting at Worcester. An acrylic painting of the cathedral.

Most of my studies around Worcester were directed by The Open College of Arts. This is taken from Fort Royal Park looking towards the Malvern Hills.

When you look for subjects to paint it is very hard to find them but the patterns created by the railing at South Quay were a delight to reproduce.

This is a little Colour sketch of the Tower at Worcester Cathedral.
Beautiful autumnal trees grace to surrounding grounds.

This is an acrylic painting in the High Street at Worcester.

Here is a little water colour of Worcester Cathedral from Shrub Hill.

Can you guess where these last two pictures are?

Repeat Patterns

Pattern can invade your home space too! I was sitting in my lounge and my coffee table was not spared my artistic brush.

Not only the table but those old coasters got a new lease of life.

Here is a study from Indian Islamic masonry work. What a wonderful matrix.

This design started as a simple line sketch and developed into a plan for batik.

Repeat Patterns can be seen in nature. Here are two acrylic studies of pebble beaches.
